This Sungrow inverter WiFi reconnect guide is applicable for all Sungrow WiFi enabled inverters which include the Sungrow SG#K-D, SG#KTL-M and SG#K-20 Hybrid models.
What are the likely causes.
If your Sungrow iSolarCloud app is no longer receiving data, this can be caused by the following:
Has the modem been changed or upgraded?
Has the solar system been switched off recently?
Was there a blackout or a power outage recently?
Has the modem been switched off for any reason recently?
Has an electrician been working on the property?
Have you recently changed your internet service?
If you answered yes to any of the above, then there is a high chance your Sungrow inverter has disconnected from your WiFi network. In a nutshell, your inverter is now trying to communicate through an IP address that is no longer available from your modem.
It’s essential you understand the steps to reconnect a WiFi-connected Sungrow inverter as IP addresses allocated by your modem will continue to change over the systems lifetime. Here is how to get your Sungrow inverter WiFi reconnected.
IMPORTANT: If your inverter has disconnected from your WiFi network, this will not affect your solar energy systems ability to produce energy. It will only prohibit the communication to the Sungrow iSolarCloud server which allows you the view your solar production information.
Step 1: Obtain your network details
Prepare by getting your home WiFi network name and password and obtaining the Solar inverter serial number and password.
You will find the serial number on the side of your solar inverter. You will know it is the correct serial number because it will have a password directly below it. For example:
Serial number: A181 XXX XXXX (the letter A followed by ten numbers)
Password: XXXXXXXX (eight numbers)
Step 2: Connect your device to the WiFi.
Firstly, go to your smartphone or tablet and open up the Settings.
Locate the WIFI SETTINGS option.
Once located, select the inverter WiFi network named “SG-******”.
Step 3: Login and configure.
After your smartphone or tablet has successfully connected to the inverter WFi network, open the Sungrow iSolarCloud APP.
Login to your iSolarCloud account.
Once logged in, select the MORE tab in the bottom left-hand corner of the page.
Then select the WLAN CONFIGURATION tab.
Information will pop up notifying you’ve successfully connected to the inverter, select NEXT.
Step 4: Network Setup
The nest step is to connect your inverter to your home Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)/ home WiFi.
Select your WIFI NETWORK from the list of WiFi options on your smart device (back to WiFi Settings) and enter your password.
The 'tick' symbol indicates a successful connection, click NEXT.
Information indicating a successful connection to the home network will pop up. Your inverter is reconnected.
Step 5: Reboot the iSolarCloud App
The final step is to reboot (log out and log back in) you iSolarCloud app. This will reset the data connection and you should be back up and running.
