If your SolarEdge inverter has been disconnected from WiFi, often you can troubleshoot this issue on your own. Sometimes this can happen if you have changed your internet service provider, network password, or network name.
What are the likely causes.
If your mySolarEdge app is no longer receiving data, this can be caused by the following:
Has the solar system been switched off recently?
Has the modem been changed or upgraded?
Was there a blackout or a power outage recently?
Has the modem been switched off for any reason recently?
Has an electrician been working on the property?
Have you recently changed your internet service?
If you answered yes to any of the above, then there is a high chance your SolarEdge inverter has disconnected from your WiFi network. In a nutshell, your inverter is now trying to communicate through an IP address that is no longer available from your modem.
It’s essential you understand the steps to reconnect a WiFi-connected SolarEdge inverter as IP addresses allocated by your modem will continue to change over the systems lifetime.
IMPORTANT: If your inverter has disconnected from your WiFi network, this will not affect your solar energy systems ability to produce energy. It will only prohibit the communication to the SolarEdge server which allows you the view your solar production information.
Here is how to get your SolarEdge inverter WiFi reconnected.
Open the mySolarEdge app on your phone or tablet device. Enter your login details.
On the top left hand of the screen, press the 'three lines' to go to the menu and select 'Inverter Communication'.
Go to your SolarEdge inverter and scan the barcode on the side of your inverter. Or if you cannot scan, you can type the inverter serial number into the mySolarEdge app manually.
Move the SolarEdge inverter red on/off switch to P (left) for 2 seconds and release. Wait for the SolarEdge app to configure.
The status of the WiFi connection is likely disconnected. You will now need to configure the WiFi connection. Press 'Configure' on the mySolarEdge app.
Select the desired WiFi network for your home, type home network WiFi password and select 'Join'.
Your SolarEdge inverter should now be connected to the home WiFi network. To confirm the connection was successful, on the Home screen press the 'three lines' on the top right of the mySolarEdge app and select 'Inverter Communication'.
Move the SolarEdge inverter red on/off switch to P (left) for 2 seconds and release. Once the mySolarEdge app check communication, you should now find that the SolarEdge inverter connection was successful.
